Allele : Gja1<tm6(Gjb3)Kwi> gap junction protein, alpha 1; targeted mutation 6, Klaus Willecke

Primary Identifier  MGI:3620583 Allele Type  Targeted
Attribute String  Conditional ready, No functional change Gene  Gja1
Transmission  Germline Strain of Origin  129P2/OlaHsd-Hprt1<b-m3>
Is Recombinase  false Is Wild Type  false
molecularNote  LoxP sites flank the coding region of Gja1 and a frt-flanked neomycin resistance cassette that immediately follows the termination codon. The coding region and 88 bp of downstream sequence from Gja3 have been inserted between the Gja1 termination codon and its downstream DNA so that Cre recombinase mediated recombination will delete the Gja1 coding sequence and place that of Gja3 under control of Gja1 regulatory sequences. The GJA1 protein level is slightly elevated in heart, but is not altered in brain, of mice heterozygous or homozygous for the present allele. As in wild-type mice, the GJA3 protein is not expressed in brain or heart.
