molecularNote  A cre recombinase-floxed neomycin resistance cassette was inserted into exon 1 of the Aire gene, such that expression was under control of the endogenous Aire promoter. The floxed neo cassette was spontaneously deleted, likely as a result of autonomous expression of cre from the Aire locus during early embryogenesis and/or spermatogenesis.
