molecularNote  A floxed PGK-neo cassette in reverse orientation and the diphtheria toxin gene were inserted into exon 1 of the gene via homologous recombination. Multiple stop codons in the PGK-neo cassette prevent translation read-through of the diphtheria toxin gene. Cre-mediated recombination removed the neo cassette.
