Allele : Tg(tetO-Spp1)5Gad transgene insertion 5, Alain Gadeau

Primary Identifier  MGI:5475548 Allele Type  Transgenic
Attribute String  Inducible, Inserted expressed sequence Gene  Tg(tetO-Spp1)5Gad
Strain of Origin  (C57BL/6 x CBA)F2 Induced With  doxycycline/tetracycline
Is Recombinase  false Is Wild Type  false
molecularNote  This transgene contains a tetracycline response element, comprising seven copies of the 42-bp tet operator sequence, between two minimal cytomegalovirus promoters, one driving expression of the E. coli lacZ (beta-galactosidase) gene and the other of a cDNA encoding mouse secreted phosphoprotein 1 (also called osteopontin) (nt 9-955, GenBank accession BC057858). Both genes are inactive except in the presence of a second transgene expressing the tetracycline transactivator (tTA) or reverse transactivator (rtTA) protein, which permits regulation of their expression by administration/discontinuation of doxycycline.
