abstractText  The hotfoot 20 Jackson mutation arose spontaneously at The Jackson Laboratory in late 2012 in the strain B6.Cg-Lep<ob>/J. Homozygotes have an abnormal walk and tremor. The hotfoot 21 Jackson mutation arose spontaneously in early 2013 in the C57BL/6J inbred strain at The Jackson Laboratory. Homozygotes for either allele display a wobbly gait by approximately 6 to 8 weeks of age. The eyes of two hotfoot 21 Jackson homozygotes at 11 weeks of age were assessed by ophthalmoscopy and found to be normal. For both alleles female and male homozygotes both breed. For each of these two mutants an F2 mapping population involving 129S1/SvImJ was used to map the mutations to Chromosome 6 between positions 45,126,062 bp and 83,216,741 bp. Each mutant was allele tested with both Grid2<ho-18J> and Grid2<19-J> and proved allelic.
