molecularNote  By homologous recombination in ES cells, exon 1 of the Dmkn gene was flanked by loxP sites. Frt flanked neo cassette was also inserted in between two loxP sites upstream of exon 1. CAG promoter-driven Cre-mediated loxP recombination deleted exon 1 of the gene which is shared by both beta and gamma isoforms.
