The YAC contains the entire Gata3 gene plus upstream and downstream regulatory regions and was modified by inserting a lacZ beta-galactosidase reporter gene cassette immediately downstream of (in-frame with) the Gata3 ATG start site. The reporter gene is expressed in many but not all tissues that normally express Gata3 during embryonic development. |
