abstractText | The transcription factors STAT5 mediates prolactin signals in mammary epithelial cells. The cDNA of bovine STAT5A was cloned, sequenced and compared to other species. The encoded protein proves to be > 95% homologous to other mammals. We show that the STAT5A mRNA of the closely related ovine species contains an extended (by 130 nt) 5'-untranslated region, being encoded by an extra-exon, and accounts, possibly, for improved translation efficiency. |
