abstractText  Full text of Mouse Genome contribution: Linkage of insulin promoter factor 1 (Ipf1) to Pmv12 and Actb on Chromosome 5. The insulin promoter factor 1 (Ipfl) gene (formerly somatostatin transcription factor 1) has been mapped to distal Chromosome 5 using The Jackson Laboratory BSS DNA mapping panel 2. A rat cDNA probe was kindly provided by Dr. Marc Montminy (The Salk Institute, La Jolla). A ~3.2 kb Sac1 restriciton fragment variant present in B6 and absent in M. spretus was typed by Southern blot in the (B6 x SPRET)Fl X SPRET DNA panel. The strain distribution pattern revealed linkage to markers on distal Chr. 5, with 0/93 recombinants with Pmv12 and 0/91 recombinants with Iapls3-9 (both proximal) and 2/92 recombinants with D5Bir22 and 6/94 recombinants with Actb (both distal). 1.
