| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Research News: 1. Antiserum produced in BALB/c mice by immunization with lymphoid tissue from Mus poschiavinus x M. musculus (BALB/c) hybrids identified a new red cell antigen. The antigen is present in inbred strains A, C57BL/10, C3H/He, NZB and some wild mice, and is absent in strains BALB/c, HTG, DBA/1, DBA/2, 129 and LP. It segregates independently from H-2 and appears not to belong to any of the known non-H-2 systems. The antigen is determined by a single autosomal locus which we identify by assigning the symbol Ea-8. Anti-Ea-8 antibodies are also present in antiserum D1.C anti-B10.D2 (along with anti-Ea-4 anti-bodies). The antigen was also picked up by Dr. D.C. Shreffler, Department of Human Genetics, The University of Michigan, by means of antiserum D1.C anti-C57BL/10. |
