abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: e. Esterase-1 tightly linked to Os. The ROP/GnLe linkage testing stock maintained in the Mouse Mutant Resource has the genotype 0s Es-lb/+Es-la on Chr 8. The b allele of esterase-1 was apparently introduced with the 0s mutation when the ROP strain was created and has remained linked to it through more than 70 generations of sister x brother mating. Thus, the two loci must be very tightly linked. In linkage crosses 7 recombinants in a total of 559 mice scored have been reported (Popp, J Hered 1965,56:107; Ruddle et al., Genetics 1969,62:393; Womack, Biochem Genet 1975, 13:311). During the maintenance of the ROP/GnLe strain there have been a minimum of 70 opportunities (1 mating per generation) for 0s and Es-1 recombinations to be detected. Adding this and published information for this interval gives a combined recombination estimate of 0.62 ± 0.31%. (Davisson, Fox, Roderick, Sweet, C. Spencer) |
