abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Using analytical isoelectric focusing in polyacrilamide gels, I have surveyed 13 tissues from 20 inbred or partially inbred strains for unreported protein polymorphisms. Thirty-eight polymorphisms were detected that have novel strain distributions or that can otherwise be distinguished from known genetic markers (i.e. tissue distribution, pi). The genetic basis has been established for six of these variants; linkage of five loci was determined using RI strains (in collaboration with B.A. Taylor) and backcross matings. Provisional gene symbols have been assigned based on preferred tissue for typing. Work is in progress to further characterize the gene products.
