Immunol. 134:2953 and 135:3681), we discovered a new mouse minor histocompatibility antigen encoded by a locus at 8.5 + 4.3 cross-over units apart from the H-2 complex, and we have since named the locus H-42. However, the symbol H-42 has been given to the one on chromosome 2 by Graff et al. (J. Immuno1. 135:2842). Thus, we would like to rename the locus, formerly named H-42, H-43, and the allele, formerly named H-42a, H-43a. Then the allele, formerly named H-42b, should be H-43b. Based on the results obtained in previous genetic studies (J. Immuno1. 134:2953 and 135:3681) as well as on the unpublished observations, alleles at H-43 of various inbred mouse strains are as follows. H-43a; C3H, CSW(C3H.SW), CKB, C3H.OH, CBA/N. H-43b; AKR/J, ABY, BALB/c, BALB.B, B10, Bl0.BR, B10.D2, B10.S, B10.A, B10.A(2R), B10.A(3R), Bl0.A(4R), Bl0.A(5R), Bl0.AKM, Bl0.MBR, B6BY, B6.CH-2(bm1), B6.CH-2(bm12), CWB, DBA/2, C3W: a newly established strain congenic to C3H at H-43 (Microbiol. and Immunol.; in press).
