abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Location of tattered (Td). Linkage tests between the new X-linked mutation, Td, (MNL 66:61) and the proximal marker, spf, have been carried out and suggest very close linkage. Two types of test have been tried: In the first Td+/+spf females were crossed with ++/Y males but because of the recessive nature of spf in the heterozygous female (and the lethality of Td in the male) linkage could only be assessed in the non-Td male progeny. Of these 79 were +spf/Y and only one was of the recombinant ++/Y type. In the second test Td+/+spf females were crossed with +spf/Y males to allow spf classification in the female. To date, the progeny include only non-recombinants; 30 Td+/++ females, 32 +spf/+spf females and 39 +spf/Y males. Combining the results of the two tests gives a Td-spf R.F. of 0.6 +/- 0.6% or 0.7 +/- 0.7% if the normally reduced viability Td female class (MNL 66:61) is excluded). (Cattanach) |
