abstractText  Full text of MNL contribution: Research News: 4. Mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase - positioning of Ahd-1 on chromosome 4. The biochemical locus encoding the A2 isozyme of aldehyde dehydrogenase (Ahd-1) has been placed on chromosome 4 near Gpd-1 (10 +/- 4% recombination frequency) (Holmes, MNL 59:19; Biochemical Genetics 16:1207-1218). Two point BC data between Ahd-1 and Pgm-2 showed a recombination frequency of 36% +/- 11%. Thus, Ahd-1 is probably localized at the non-centromeric end of chromosome 4: Pgm-2 - Gpd-1 - Ahd-1.
