abstractText  Full text of MNL contribution: Cytoplasmic aldehyde dehydrogenase (Ahd-2 on chromosome 19). A biochemical variant for cytoplasmic aldehyde dehydrogenase (AHD-B4) has been previously reported among NZB/BL, NZC/BL, NZW/Hall and SJL/J strains (MNL 61:35) (designated Ahd-2b allele). The phenotypes are inherited in a normal Mendelian fashion with 2 alleles showing codominant expression at a single locus (Ahd-2). The locus was shown to segregate independently of Ahd-1 (encoding the large granular AHD-A2 isozyme) on chromosome 4 and was positioned towards the centromeric end of chromosome 19: Ahd-2 16+/-3 bm 6+/-2 /21+/-3 (ep, ru). 147 backcross progeny [F1(NZB x LR19] were analysed.
