abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Linkage Data: 2. The position of ichthyosis (ic) in Chr 1 was determined in a 3-point cross with vl and Lp. Among early offspring of vl + ic/+ Lp + x vl + ic/vl + ic there was evidence of normal overlapping of vl. Therefore, among later progeny, recombinant non-vl offspring were progeny tested. The 328 offspring of the cross were as follows: vl + ic 95; vl ++ 8; + Lp + 199; + Lp ic 2 proved + Lp ic Ð 3 untested; vl Lp + 2; ++ ic 3 proved ++ ic Ð 8 untested Ð 2 proved vl + ic; vl Lp ic 1; +++ 0 proved +++ - 3 untested - 2 proved vl ++ The most likely order is therefore vl, Lp, ic. Recombination between Lp and ic was 19/328 = 5.79%. A separate cross of Lp ic/++ x + ic/+ ic gave 3/103 = 2.970 +/- 1.69% recombination in females and 2/32 = 6.250% in males. The results for males combined with those of the previously reported coupling backcross for males (MNL 45:29) gave 5/105 = 4.76 +/- 2.08%. The sex difference is not significant. Recombination in all crosses combined is 27/534 = 5.06 +/- 0.95%. (M.C. Green and H.O. Sweet) |
