abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: 5. Ly nomenclature registry. This registry has been established at the National Institutes of Health and will be administered by Dr. H.C. Morse III. New Ly numbers will be allocated in order of receipt of request, accompanied by a copy of the evidence demonstrating a new Ly locus. All applications should be addressed to Dr. H.C. Morse National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease Building 7, Room 383 National Institutes of Health Bethesda, Maryland 20205 U.S.A. 6. Rationalization of existing nomenclature. In order to remove duplications and various other ambiguities some existing nomenclature has been changed. A comparison of old and new nomenclature is shown in Table 1 below. The following points should be noted (a) In the course of eliminating duplications etc., some loci have been renumbered. (b) The Lyt designation has been abandoned, but Lyb-2 to Lyb-8 remain unchanged. (c) Various loci already well known by non-conforming names have been left unchanged to avoid confusion. These include Thy-1, Thy-2, Lna-1, Tind, Tpre, Tsup. However, it is recommended that, if similar loci are described in the future, they should receive an Ly number.
