| abstractText | The referenced information was derived from Homologene (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/HomoloGene/) at National Center for Biotechnology Information. Mammalian orthology data at MGI is either extracted from publications or determined by curators as outlined in J:58000. To augment MGI mammalian orthology data curation efforts, we incorporated orthology data from HomoloGene. For this effort, we evaluated the calculated set provided by HomoloGene; this set consists of reciprocal best hits between two or more organisms. We obtained orthology data between mouse and other mammals of our interest from Homologene calculated set and compared with MGI curated dataset. All the data that match with MGI curated data and new data that can be appropriately associated with MGI markers is now being represented as mammalian orthology data load via HomoloGene.
