Allele : Qki<qk-kt4> quaking, KH domain containing RNA binding; quaking kt4

Primary Identifier  MGI:1857102 Allele Type  Chemically induced (ENU)
Gene  Qki Inheritance Mode  Recessive
Strain of Origin  STOCK t<w5> Is Recombinase  false
Is Wild Type  false
description  This allele is homozygous lethal. This allele is presumed to be the same allele as Qk and Qk because all were recovered from the same male. qk, quaking-kt, recessive. A series of mutations induced in the quaking locus by ethylnitrosourea (ENU) have been examined. The qkk2 mutation occurred in a (C57BL/6 x CBA/Ca) F1 male. qk and qk were induced in a tw5 haplotype. These mutations are recessive embryonic lethals, but each will survive in heterozygous combination with the classic Qk mutant allele. The ENU alleles fail to complement the quaking phenotype (J:27474).
molecularNote  The mutation underlying the phenotype of the Qkkt4 mouse has been attributed to an A to G transition, resulting in a missense mutation. This results in a glutamic acid to glycine change in the QUA1 domain of the encoded protein.
