PHENOTYPE: Strain G and wild mice have a dominant resistant allele to AKR and NB-tropic, but not amphotropic, leukemia viruses. DNA of these mice hybridizes to ecotropic env-gene probes suggesting resistance via a gp70 related protein binding to exogenous virus. DBA/2, BALB/c and most inbreds are susceptible.
