molecularNote  An insertion of the transcriptional terminator site, SPA-MAZ4 into the region 1.1 kb upstream of the P1 start site. Also, a floxed neomycin resistance gene was inserted. The insertion was designed to disrupt any transcription between the promoter and upstream regions. RT-PCR indicates presence of ectopic sense transcription upstream of Xist in mutants.
