Allele : Cd79a<tm4.1Cgn> CD79A antigen (immunoglobulin-associated alpha); targeted mutation 4.1, University of Cologne

Primary Identifier  MGI:3047537 Allele Type  Targeted
Attribute String  Null/knockout Gene  Cd79a
Transmission  Germline Strain of Origin  B6.Cg-Thy1<a>
Is Recombinase  false Is Wild Type  false
molecularNote  Crossing Cd79atm4Cgn mice with deleter mice expressing cre in the germline created this allele in which floxed exons 2 and 3 were excised, thus removing the extracellular membrane and transmembrane encoding sequences. FACS analysis of mutant bone marrow and spleen indicated complete lack of B cell development and T cell numbers decreased to 30-50% of wild-type controls. Mu chain was detected in the cytoplasm of pro-B cells, demonstrating VDJ recombination was functional.
