| molecularNote | Exon 7 was replaced by a floxed neo cassette and an exon 7 with two nucleotide substitutions (CAC to AAG) that resulted in the amino acid substitution of lysine for histidine at postiion 81 (H81K) of alpha1-chimaerin. The neo cassette was removed by cre-mediated recombination. Unexpectidly this allele led to the production of a 26 residue deletion in alpha2-chimaerin and a 95% reduction in protein expression as determined by western blot analysis. The absence of alpha1-chimaerin and the presence of alpha2-chimaerin was confirmed by western blot analysis on total brain extracts. |
