| molecularNote | The coding sequence for farnesylated mCherry (mCherry-F, membrane bound form) was inserted in-frame at the alternative start site in exon 3 of the gene. Reduced expression of the full length wild type mRNA in the IO nucleus, as well as the retina, olfactory bulb, and hippocampus was observed. Homozygous mutant mice displayed no detectable wild type protein expression in the IO nucleus while membrane-associated mCherry-F expression was seen in cells that normally express the endogenous protein. |
