molecularNote  LoxP sites were inserted approximately 1.6-kb upstream of the transcriptional start site and 300-bp downstream of the 3′-UTR. An frt-flanked neomycin selection cassette was removed via FLP-mediated recombination in the germline. Cre-mediated recombination in the germline resulted in the deletion of the coding region of the gene.
