molecularNote  A targeting vector replaced the entire coding region of the Neurog1 gene with C-Cre (amino acids 60-343 in Ascl1 locus) modified with a nuclear-localization signal, GCN4 coiled-coil domain, and flexible linker. A neomycin cassette flanked by self-deletion anchor sites was present downstream of the C-Cre cassette.
